Fall From Grace #6


    From a young age my mom took the time to teach me that there are bad people out here that mean well and good people who don't. It is easy for people to fall into the steps of evil because they may not have strong decision making like they thought. Temptation is very real and if you are unable to battle it then it's easy to fall into it. Doing the right thing is always much harder than doing the wrong thing and I think that it's simply how the world works. When you choose to walk down the path of evil you become significantly less content with yourself and your decisions. The guilt haunts you and by this time you can tell that Macbeth is defenitely feeling the guilt. 
    Lady Macbeth took a shot at his pride and that forced him to swallow the guilt. We are now seeing that the guilt is very unsettling within him. "I am in blood, Stepp'd in so far, that, should I wade no more, Returning were as tedious as go o'er(Macbeth)." This quote comes immediately after he sees the ghost. It serves as a good example as to how his guilt is starting to come back to him after Lady Macbeth takes a shot between the legs previously in the play. I somewhat agree with Shakespeare's quote. I don't think that power corrupts. It's the people who have the power that are corrupting. I don't really have an experience of mine personally. The power you have can make you a GOOD president or a bad one but the power remains the same. Now that we have a cheeto puff in office and not a compassionate human being like Obama, he is abusing the power to make things more convenient for the people that think, look and act just like him. Obama was a president that used his power for the good of the people. Power has gotten to the cheeto's head and now we have BIGGER versions of the issues America ALREADY HAD..........talk about unsettling...
    Manhood is exactly what it is. It just depends on the man. There are plenty of men in the world that still think and act as little boys. You have other men in the world that have grown up and matured. The men that choose to embrace manhood will survive in the world and make changes to make the world better. A good man is a respectful man, a wise man, an honest man, a father figure, a survivor because life isn't easy. In the beginning, Macbeth is almost all of these characteristics (except a father :/). Now he doesn't fit into any of those characteristics. His fall from grace is hard to take. Hopefully he will make amends and redeem his self. 


P.S. men are gross. oh, and smash the patriarchy. : )

    I completely agree with you when you say "there are bad people out here that mean well and good people who don't"; I think there are shades of grey for sure when judging whether someone is good or bad, and people aren't necessarily stuck as "good" or "bad" for their whole life. They could change (although sometimes they don't always change for the better as hoped for). I also agree that Macbeth is beginning to feel the effects of his actions. He did a horrible deed without thinking fully about what the consequences would be, and now his guilt is eating at him. Great post!!!

https://www.ted.com/talks/gus_casely_hayford_the_powerful_stories_that_shaped_africa (This was funny, my bad) Anyway,Gus Hayford created a ted talk about how story telling shaped Africa. His argument was that story telling was essential to African culture because due to the enslavement and oppression that Africa experienced. Throughout the ted talk he shares different narratives that are all tied into Africa culture such as the discovery of architecture in Great Zimbabwe, the British attack on Ashanti and stories of the Mali empire. The speaker was able to get his point across because of the variety of stories used in the talk. All stories had a common theme and that was about the discovery or harm towards African culture. Hayford used ethos and logos more than the use of pathos. The narratives he decided to include were all well researched and detailed as well as being easy to follow.
